I hope you guys heard the news. MyBB 2.0 has been abandoned and MyBB is working on v 1.9 with a responsive default theme and Twig templates
Personally, I appreciate MyBB coming up with a responsive model. Better late than never.

There are many responsive themes available for MyBB 1.8 already.
That is true. I guess now the whole software focus on being responsive. Earlier there we talks about issues while using responsive themes along with third party plugins
Google started promoting responsiveness more than a year ago. MyBB is a little late to the party
With 1.9 being responsive by default, they have better prospects on market. MyBB still has some respect among the users. That will stay intact.
A free, open source forum software with a responsive theme. How many are there ? phpBB has a responsive default style as well. MyBB and phpBB were the most recommended software once.
I won't argue there. That was a good decision by the MyBB team. They are moving to Twig for templates.
Twig was originally planned for 2.0. Looks like the plan is to reach 2.0 one step at a time instead of a leap.
They already have an alerts plugin but won't add it to core. I am not sure why they decided to go like that. When you have code in hand, an integration would have been nice.
Well ........... MyBB......
I have a lot to say and to share......
It was well written and well received software once. As soon as each team member started to make (sometimes crucial from project perspective) moves, whole team started to disintegrate. And it came to the point, in which there was/is no return. From that point up to today, MyBB has been on - sometimes steep - decline. And no matter what current team does, they will not change the fact that MyBB is slowly dying......
Extremely sad situation, but its only their own fault.
Team kills MyBB from inside.
For those want to take a sneak peek of 1.9 's responsive theme
Looks nice. I think it is time to get rid of circle as default board icon. There are a lot of icon packs to take help from. Circle was great when they launched 1.8. A face lift is always better when 1.9 comes out.
I don't mind a fresh look either. But current theme is not bad. It is a very close port of 1.8 theme, but still looks good.
@Justin is the style specialist. He seems to have some great ideas in mind. The default theme of 1.8 is the one he made for 1.6 as a personal project. It was too good that it got adopted for 1.8.
I thought 2.0 will come by the end of this year. Sad to know that they dropped it altogether. A complete rewrite would have worked well in their favour.
New demo board : http://mybb.jsoltesz.com/mybb-1.9
You can see the default 1.9 theme in action as well
It's fast on the demo site. I hope it is not just the server. MyBB was never a resource hog.
The saddest part is, many left MyBB due to slow release and less features. I was a MyBB fan, but basic inbuilt feature of Like, thank you weren't there. You need a plugin for it.
They will have it in core with 1.10. 1.9 is mainly focused on converting templates to Twig and giving a responsive theme.. They are planning a 1.12 as well.
MyBB shared some screen shots of the new responsive theme in version 1.9 on Twitter
