I don't know whether there is something called an Audio blog. The idea is that we can post audio about a lot of things which will appear in search results. Just audio instead of text. Does something like that work ? Is there any reliable platform we can make use of ?

They are normally called Podcasts. It is more like an online radio station or YouTube where you upload audio. As for a platform like wordpress.com , there are too many of them which will offer their basic plans for free.

There are many of them. For example, you can use WordPress itself for your audio blog. Personally, I would suggest Tweeting them, or posting them on Facebook. Far better reach than previous methods.

Aren't podcasts usually interviews and discussions between multiple people, not just one person talking to the camera (like in the case of a video blog)?

Individual audios are also part of podcasts. A lot of reviewers do it for movies and latest news. There are tech podcasts as well. It is more like a TV program in audio format.
